May God answer you and be near you

This prayer of blessing is a paraphrase of Jacob’s encounter with God at Bethel recorded in Genesis 35.

Jacob’s long story throughout Genesis (beginning in chapter 25 )  is full of drama, delay, stress and conflict. His life seemed to be one long season of “character development”. Then God told him to pick up roots and live in a new area.

So much for finding, much less staying, in your comfort zone.

Jacob’s response was to give honor to the Lord by testifying to the grace He had received throughout his life.

3 Then let’s rise and go up to Bethel so that I can build an altar there to the God who answered me when I was in trouble and who has been with me wherever I’ve gone.” Genesis 35:3

May my testimony, and yours, be that God answered in times of trouble, and was present in every season and location of life.

Amen.
