Jesus, “Son of David”, quoted his forefather David’s song of ultimate trust as his final, dying words.
Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last. Luke 23:46
Following Jesus is an all or nothing deal. When you’re all in, which is what wholehearted worship is all about, then the call of God on your life will require sacrifice.
Sacrifice is an idea foreign to the entitlement generation. The mindset of entitlement, “somebody owes me what I want” is a snare from hell.
The deal is – Â God owes us nothing. We owe Him everything.
“Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe.”
Worship in spirit and truth transforms the soul, mind and spirit by requiring sacrifice.
The sacrifice God desires is a broken spirit and a contrite heart. It’s not just a state of being, it’s a mindset and a way of living.
Our pride makes the case that this is too high of a price. We insist on controlling and holding tightly onto what we know – of demanding our “rights”, of manipulating to get what we want.
That’s sin and it separates us from God’s best.
Jesus demonstrated – not just on the cross, but in everyday life  – the mentality required to successfully live a lifestyle of worship.
Trust God completely for every outcome, in every circumstance.
He is all you need. It’s all in God’s hands.
