Glory To God

I like to orient my personal worship/spiritual journey around the Christian calendar for a variety of reasons. One is “Christmas Tide” or the 12 days of Christmas. I want to continue to enjoy and celebrate the good vibes of Christmas. The gospel is good news, right?  Why should all the fun end on December 26?

So this year the first Sunday of the New Year (and the second Sunday after Christmas) was still in the Christmastide season. So we sang the songs of the angels, hymns like “Angels From The Realm of Glory” and “Joy To The World”.

This passage from Luke is not just for Christmas Eve!

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,  “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:13-14

And I included this message in my social media feeds along with the “Glory To God” image:

Worship peeps, this first Lords Day of the new year, may we give glory to God in the highest! Amen!

May the joy of the Lord be your strength today.  🙂

About Season Of Light

I am writing a devotional series called “Season of Light” (#SeasonOfLife) during the beginning of 2016, focusing on the 40 day season of Epiphany (from January 6 – February 10). We’ll explore the major biblical themes of the beginning of Jesus ministry, and I’ll comment as the Holy Spirit inspires. This is for the purpose of growing in our relationship with the Lord. My desire – my hope and prayer for you – is that your heart may expand and your spirit grow brighter as we seek to be filled with the knowledge and presence of God. So, I invite you to join me on the “Season of Light” journey!

Often I’ll be inspired by a scripture from the Daily Audio Bible readings and use that as a writing prompt. Here’s the DAB readings for January 3:

Genesis 5:1-7:24; Matthew 3:7-4:11; Psalms 3:1-8; Proverbs 1:10-19
