Jesus spoke these words to his closest friends who simply did not have the energy to pray through the night with him.
“Could you not tarry with me for even an hour? ” He asked.Â
I’m leery of worship songs that boast of what “we” or “I” will do in worship, the strength of our devotion, declaring we will do this, that, or the other.
Probably not.
Good intentions are not the same as sacrificial love. I already know I’m super weak at living out the sacrificial love part.
If Peter James and John could not be faithful to our Lord in His greatest hour of need, there’s no way I could do better.
Neither could you. The spirit may be willing but the flesh is weak.
The good news is, when I am weak, He is strong. His grace is more than enough.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for interceding for me, and all of us, in this hour. You conquered death and hell. Conquer the fears, the fights, the demons I am battling right now. Lord you know how weak I am, but I know and trust in how strong you are! Have your way in me. Kingdom of God come, will of God, be done! In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.Â
