One of the traditional Advent readings is Isaiah 11:1-10, in part a description of the kingdom of heaven established on earth. Ferocious and dangerous enemies are transformed into peaceful playmates … so gentle that a child will lead them.
The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together;
and a little child will lead them. Isaiah 11:6
This is the vision of “peace on earth” – a state of tranquility far more than we could hope or imagine.
The meek shall inherit the earth. This is the reward of childlike faith.
It’s interesting how Jesus esteems children. He did not marginalize them nor ignore them. He assigns them a leadership role in the work of His kingdom.
“Unless YOU come AS A CHILD…”
2 Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. 3 Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. 4 So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 18:2-4
Advent reminds us to engage our faith with the innocent, wholehearted trust of a child. And it shares a beautiful picture of a brighter future.

 SUNRISE WORSHIP DEVOTIONALS: Advent Series
During the 25 day Advent Season, my sunrise devotionals will have an Advent theme.
 A daily “worship ritual†I practice is to listen to The Daily Audio Bible podcast, take a photo of the morning sky, find a meaningful scripture or quote (usually from the DAB), and share it on Instagram/Facebook/Twitter. Please comment and share!Â
