This Sunday I helped lead the praise team that launched the new Contemporary Worship Service at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church, Hendersonville, TN.
This was a new venture for the church which offers three traditional services on Sunday in a traditional sanctuary. We set up a stage and sound system in the gym. It was similar to a portable church or church plant situation.
The turnout was fantastic as the gym was filled both with people and the presence of the Lord.
It was a wonderful new beginning.
We opened the service with this video, We Are Here:
Here’s the inaugural setlist:
- Prelude: Everlasting God (during countdown)
- Welcome & Video: We Are Here
- You’re Worthy of My Praise
- Responsive Reading: The Greatest Commandment, Matthew 22:34-40
- Spontaneous Antiphonal Singing
- Holy Is The Lord
- Mighty To Save
- Message
- As It Is In Heaven
- Everlasting God
- How Great is Our God (chorus only)
One thing I’m trying to do within the worship ministry is establish a culture of debriefing, where we can celebrate the win, evaluate and get better.
The four questions of debriefing are:
- What was good?
- What was not good?
- Was anything confusing?
- Was anything missing?
I know one challenge moving forward is establishing systems for the set-up and breakdown for production/audio / video every week. It’s quite labor intensive. Suggestions anyone? Share in the comments.
