So today is my birthday and God organized the DAB reading plan such that we read/heard THE most important, foundational, life orienting scripture in the Bible.
Jesus said the most important thing in life is to keep the main thing THE MAIN THING. Or as Mike Bickle would say, “Put the first commandment in first place.”
That’s a good word when reflecting on the milestones of your life journey, and following what’s next.
Here’s Matthew 22:37 in context:
34Â Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, a group of Pharisees met to consider new questions that might trip up Jesus. 35Â A legal expert thought of one that would certainly stump Him.
Pharisees: 36Â Teacher, of all the laws, which commandment is the greatest?
Jesus (quoting Scripture): 37 “Love the Eternal One your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind.â€[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is nearly as important, “Love your neighbor as yourself.â€[d] 40 The rest of the law, and all the teachings of the prophets, are but variations on these themes.
OK, that’s the bottom-line. Let’s do this thing!
May the Lord bless you richly as we enter into another year of following Him wholeheartedly!
