In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. John1:4 [Sunrise April 30 2013]

Hurray! We’re 30 days into the series! I’m loving this project, hope it’s a blessing to you too!

Day 30 Power From On High

“And behold, I will send forth upon you what My Father has promised; but remain in the city [Jerusalem] until you are clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:49 (AMP)

And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.” Luke 24:49 (MSG)

Power from heaven is ALL POWERFUL!

Power from on high originates in El Elyon, the Most High God.

It is an attribute of El Shaddai, God Almighty.

When the power of heaven touches earth, it produces not only amazing signs, wonders and miracles – but a sense of awe worthy of El Hannora, the Awesome God.

Endued with power from on high – The power which would be given them by the descent of the Holy Spirit – the power of speaking with tongues, of working miracles, and of preaching the gospel with the attending blessing and aid of the Holy Spirit. This was accomplished in the gift of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. (Barnes commentary)

Jesus promised in John 14;12 that his followers would be able to do what only God could do when they were empowered by his Holy Spirit.

“I can guarantee this truth: Those who believe in me will do the things that I am doing. They will do even greater things because I am going to the Father.” GOD’S WORD® Translation (©1995)

Jesus prophesied that after his resurrection and ascension,  we would do even greater things than He did! Papa Don would stir up our faith with this one back in the day. This promise is for Jesus followers now, in this generation.

That idea blows my mind because it seems so preposterous.

But it’s right there in black and white – or red, depending on your Bible. You gotta do something with that verse. Either ignore it or act on it.

I choose to believe it.

Let’s Pray:

I thought this was a cool prayer for today. Just change “Thou” to “You” , and “art” to “are”.

O God the Holy Ghost
Who art light unto thine elect
Evermore enlighten us.
Thou who art fire of love
Evermore enkindle us.
Thou who art Lord and Giver of Life,
Evermore live in us.
Thou who bestowest sevenfold grace,
Evermore replenish us.
As the wind is thy symbol,
So forward our goings.
As the dove, so launch us heavenwards.
As water, so purify our spirits.
As a cloud, so abate our temptations.
As dew, so revive our languor.
As fire, so purge our dross
Christina Rossetti (AD 1830-1894)

Amen.
