“Timing is the Father’s business” Acts1:7

Day 41Â Timing Is God’s Business
6 When they were together for the last time they asked, “Master, are you going to restore the kingdom to Israel now? Is this the time?â€
7-8 He told them, “You don’t get to know the time. Timing is the Father’s business. What you’ll get is the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world.†Acts 1:6-8 (MSG)
Imagine this scene as Jesus is giving his very last words. In the preceding 40 something days his followers had lived through the most unbelievable, miraculous moments in history.
Now they asked a legit question. “Lord, what’s the plan? Are the rest of the prophecies going to be fulfilled now?”
And Jesus says, “Sorry, I can’t tell you that. You still have to go on and do the next right thing by faith.”
Trust in God is the only currency we believers have. It will be tested and tried to the breaking point and beyond. Jesus did not say, “everything is going to be ok now.”
… when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8
I do not have faith that everything on this side of heaven is going to work out “ok”. I have faith that God will work all things together for good (Romans 8:28).
There is a difference.
When the Holy Spirit “comes on you” it transforms you.
The same power that gave every first generation disciple the courage to die rather than lie is here today for you and me.
The timing of God’s justice is His business.
God Is In Control
Anybody remember the Twila Paris song “God is In Control” ? It was Song of the Year back in 1995.
God is in control
We believe that His children will not be forsaken
God is in control
We will choose to remember and never be shaken
There is no power above or beside Him, we know
Oh, God is in control, oh God is in control
Let’s Pray:
I invite you to pray with me.
Lord , I agree with the truth of Your Word, that You are good and your love endures forever! So often the evil and cruelty of this world seems to mock this truth. Fill me fresh with your Holy Spirit to live for your glory, no matter the circumstance. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.Â
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who lives in heaven, Holy is Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours in the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen.
