Let your light shine! Matthew 5:16 [Sunrise photo April 24 2013]

Day 24 Preach this among all nations

47 It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’ Luke 24:47

Jesus gave his followers their mission in S.M.A.R.T. goal format.

It was Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely. This mission would require many generations of commitment, and is still on-going.

Specific proclaim the message of forgiveness of sins for all who repent

Measurableto all nations

Attainablestart with Jerusalem (start where you are,  with those closest to you)

Relevantoffer to solve the problem of sin, this is always relevant

Time-bound begin now and keep at it until the return of Christ

As the internet generation, we live in the most exciting period in history.

It has never been more feasible to reach every nation – every ethnicity, every people group on the face of the earth – than it is right now in our generation.

You can hop on a plane and affordably be on the other side of the world in a day, two at the most. It is an amazing era.

I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to do that every summer for the last 12 years. I can lead worship in Nashville on Sunday morning, board a plane Sunday afternoon, and be sharing the gospel in Romania on Monday afternoon.

I know – it’s modern technology. But it feels like a miracle to me.

This was unthinkable just 100 years ago. Today, every nation is reachable. Pray for missionaries near and far, long term and short term,  men and women willing to go and share the gospel.

Let’s Pray:

I invite you to pray with me today.

“Jesus thank you for the gift of Your forgiveness for all who repent.  We call forth the nations, that every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We pray for harvesters. May Your light shine in us and through us, and bring glory to our heavenly Father.  In Jesus name, Amen.”
