*Today marked the closing of one chapter of my assignment at HFUMC and the continuation of a new one. About 18 months ago I was asked to consult and lead the launch of a contemporary service at HFUMC, with the specific task of raising up a praise team and mentoring their rising leaders. Today Pastor Don expressed appreciation for my role and we officially based the baton to Travis Birch as the new Worship Leader for the Contemporary Service. Travis is a great guy, a very talented singer musician and as been an outstanding leader on our team. He’s gonna do a great job.
My new assignment has been interim Director of Music and Worship while a search is on for a permanent director. That includes overseeing all aspects of the music program and worship services, directing the adult and youth choirs, and leading the traditional service. It’s been a lot of fun.
I got inspired and wrote a song for the occasion called “Let The Name of The Lord Be Praised”. It’s a scripture song from Psalm 102:18-28
Let this be written for a future generation
that a people not yet created may praise the Lord Psalm 102:18
It was a beautiful day. I’m excited about what God is doing here.
