We were touched by a beautiful Ash Wednesday service last night. One highlight was the song “Lord Have Mercy“  recorded by Michael W. Smith and composed by Steve Merkel.
This is a wonderful season to grow in our connection with God. Which leads me to today’s topic.
I’ve been working on a major new project, and there is a question that keeps burning in my head.
What Is The Gospel?
Now quick, off the top of my head I’m going to write the first thing that comes to mind. No theological discourse, it might be incomplete or even wrong. Here goes:
“There is a real God who loves you. He has a wonderful plan for your life. You can know Him and have the most fulfilling , joy filled, meaningful life you could ever imagine through His son Jesus Christ. “
That’s my raw, unedited answer today.
Now I’m going to do some research on this question and share my findings with you. I’ll inquire regular folks, theologians and other thought leaders.
Here’s where I need your help.
What is the most simple, easy to understand, relate-able answer you could give?
Imagine you’re having coffee with a friend, or someone randomly asks you at Wal-Mart, or you’re sitting beside a stranger on an airplane, and they ask you – What is the gospel?
Quick, what would you say? Don’t research your answer. This is not for Sunday school class. This is for everybody out of the club.
Pretty please with sugar on top, share an answer in the comments. This is not a test and I’m not looking for a definitive answer.
I want to know your answer, from your heart. THANK YOU!
Ready. Go.
